Excellent night had by all

Tuesday night saw an excellent night being had by all with our members night, given by our chairman John Renton.

John did a series of short Audio Visual tutorials which he has put together using Pictures to Exe and Audacity software.

One tutorial showed us how to make a Christmas card using our images and Photoshop.  Another tutorial demonstrated Apertures, shutter speeds and ISO.

Everyone learned something .

Thank you John for a very good night

Fourth Open Competition results.

Disappointment was the order of the evening when we did battle with Folkestone on March 16th, as they beat us 181 to 172 in the digitally projected images and 180 to 174 in the prints, the judge being John Wigmore. Brett Lewis scored our only print 20 of the evening and we failed to score 20 with any of our digitally projected images.

David Hopper came a convincing first and third in our "Patterns" Competition in the Prints category, with George Whitcher squeezing into second place. In the Slides category Malcolm Hardie won, James Foad was second and George Whitcher came third. Particularly encouraging in this themed competition which was judged by Brian Weatherly from Folkestone was the strong showing of Juniors Andy Morris and Kirsty Ralfs who each scored convincing 19s. Well done to you all!

The Club is now the proud owner of a magnificent new print viewer which has already attracted favourable comment from visiting speakers and judges as well as from delighted members. Our thanks are due to member Bob Edom whose skill and hard work have resulted in a valuable addition to the Club's equipment.

Our thanks are due to Phil Joss for leading a rewarding night shoot in Ramsgate attended by more than a dozen members. It was a fine dry night and with Phil's guidance seveal members tried night shooting for the first time and were pleased with their efforts. Nice one Phil !
